Spain’s Culture and Coastline

Barcelona

Barcelona has plenty to offer those who intend to take in some culture on their luxury holidays in Spain. The city’s most eye-catching architecture has been influenced by one designer in particular, Antoni Gaudi. You can take a tour of Gaudi’s cylindrical house, which serves as a museum to his work. The rooms are circular, with a central column of light so it feels like you are walking in a giant tube of polo mints. When you reach the mosaic-decorated, globular roof, you might recognise it, as it was featured in a Guinness advert.

Gaudi’s most famous work is La Sagrada Família, a church with such a complex design that it is still being built more than eighty years after his death. Thousands of holiday makers have climbed the tower of La Sagrada Familia during their luxury holidays in Spain before enjoying a rest among Gaudi’s sculptures in the Park Güell nearby.

Barcelona also presents the opportunity to enjoy the masterpieces of the country’s most famous artist on your tailor made holiday in Spain. The Museu Picasso is a gem of a gallery, with several floors of Picasso’s work. You can trace the remarkable development of his styles, from his obvious early talent in his teenage cityscapes, through to the weird and wonderful flair pieces such as the ‘Blue Riders’, and his sculptures. The gallery is definitely worth adding to the things to see on your Spanish luxury holidays.

Barcelona is home to some of the most stylish luxury hotels in Spain, such as the romantically named ‘Casanova by Rafael Hotels’, located in the heart of the city. The rooms of the Casanova have chic and modern furnishings inspired by Gaudi’s works, and the bar and restaurant are great examples of stylish design.

As well as its culture, Barcelona is blessed by its location close to the south coast of Spain, and although you may hesitate to leave the atmosphere of this beautiful city, there are seven beaches that you can relax on and take in the Mediterranean sunshine.

Costa Blanca

Of course, when you’re thinking of Spanish beaches the Costa Blanca comes to mind, a region given a name to indicate its hundreds of miles of sandy coastline, containing some of the most beautiful beaches in Spain. Luxury holidays here on the eastern coast of Spain will make use of the Mediterranean climate and the beautiful varied shore line. For even more enhanced relaxation, you can spend part of your tailor made holiday in Spain at a spa. The SHA Wellness Clinic in the Costa Blanca is one of Spain’s luxury hotels that offer a number of therapies including yoga and Shiatsu. More than this, the SHA Wellness Clinic has facilities for acupuncture, laughter therapy, reiki, and many more treatments.

Tenerife

Let’s not forget the Canary Islands. The largest of the islands, Tenerife has golden skirts of beach surrounding its varied terrain of mountains and rich forests. This is a beautiful place to enjoy the sea. One of Spain’s luxury hotels that makes swimming a pleasure is the ABAMA Golf & Spa Resort, where you can try any of seven swimming pools, or take to the ocean from its private beach.
