Chopin Airport exceeds expectations, handles 18.5 million passengers in 2023

Chopin Airport in Warsaw surpassed expectations by servicing approximately 18.5 million passengers in 2023, exceeding the initially forecasted figure of 15 million, as reported by officials. Monthly statistics ranged from 1,119,953 in February to 1,935,714 in July, with the annual total representing 98% of the airport’s pre-pandemic peak in 2019.
Of the 18,499,527 passengers, transit travelers accounted for 26%, while over 11.4 million passengers journeyed within the European Union’s Schengen zone. The airport achieved a record-breaking 2.6 million charter-flight passengers in 2023.
London, Paris, Antalya, Amsterdam, and Frankfurt emerged as the top five destinations for travelers departing from Chopin Airport in 2023. Among the airlines, LOT, Wizz Air, Enter Air, Lufthansa, and Smartwings were identified as the five most popular choices for passengers flying from Warsaw.
